1. Kapalbathi Pranayama

How to do:

  • Sit cross-legged on the floor or mat with the spine upright and hands facing upwards on your knees.
  • Inhale deeply to fill the lungs.
  • Pull your stomach towards your spine and exhale air forcefully in short bursts with a hissing sound.
  • Release your stomach. Fill your lungs again with air.

Number of Repetitions: Do the inhale and exhale for 15 to 20 times every day.

  • People with problems such as cirrhosis of the liver and hepatitis can boost liver health with this pose.

2. Ardha Matsyendrasana

How to do:

  • Sit cross-legged with the left foot over the right foot.
  • Inhale and raise your arms so that spine is lengthened.
  • While you exhale twist your torso to your left gazing over your shoulder, place your left hand on the floor behind you and right hand on your knee.
  • Stay in this pose for 5 slow breaths.
  • Repeat with the other side.

Number of Repetitions: You can do two repetitions on each side.

3. Dhanurasana

  • Lie flat on your stomach.
  • Raise your legs and bring it towards your head by holding the feet with your hands.
  • Remain in this position for 30 seconds and release.

Number of Repetitions: Repeat the pose at least 10 times to get the best results.

4. Gomukhasana

How to do:

  • Sit on the floor with one leg crossed over the other so that the right foot will be near left hip and left foot near right hip.
  • Now clasp your hands at the back by placing one hand over your shoulder and other behind the rib area.
  • Hold in the pose for at least one minute and release your hands and legs.
  • Repeat the pose on the other side for the same duration.

Number of Repetitions: Repeat it not more than two times on both sides.

How it Helps: The liver gets stimulated and allows blood and oxygen to flow through it without any blocks. It can prevent scar tissue formation in liver cirrhosis patients.

5. Naukasana

How to do:

  • Lie down on your back on a flat surface.
  • Lift your head and legs so that only the buttocks touch the floor. You can keep your hands on the sides of the knees.
  • Remain in this asana for one minute.
  • Return to resting pose.

Number of Repetitions: Repeat it at least 5 times to get a healthy liver.

How it Helps: By doing this pose you are rejuvenating the liver tissues and allowing it to remove toxins from the body.
