Natasha Richardson was a theatre and screen actress from England. Richardson was the granddaughter of Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson. She was born in the family of actress Vanessa Redgrave and Tony Richardson. Her father was a director and producer. Her family is well-known as a theatre and film acting dynasty. She is Joely Richardson’s sister, Carlo Gabriel Nero’s half-sister, Katharine Grimond Hess’ niece, niece of famous actress Lynn Redgrave and actor Corin Redgrave, and cousin of Jemma Redgrave. Her parents split in 1967.

She was born on May 11, 1963. She took her last breath in New York City on March 18, 2009, as she suffered an epidural hematoma due to a skiing accident in Quebec, Canada. Initially, she refused to seek any medical help but complained of a headache. She was rushed to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where she died.

Richardson started her career in regional theatre at Leeds Playhouse, and then in 1984, in London’s Regent’s Park’s Open Air Theatre, she co-starred alongside Ralph Fiennes and Richard E. Grant in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She made her professional debut in 1985 in London’s West End in a rendition of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull. Vanessa Redgrave, her mother, was also part of this production.

Natasha Richardson had her first appearance on American television in the miniseries “Ellis Island” in 1984. She made her British television debut in the same year, in an episode of the show ‘Oxbridge Blues.’ She also acted in an episode of ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ as a guest star and a BBC production of Henrik Ibsen’s ‘Ghosts’ in 1987.

In 1984, Natasha Richardson made her first credited cinematic appearance as an art tutor in the film ‘Every Picture Tells A Story.’
