Most people wet their lashes after getting a lash lift despite knowing that it should be completely avoided. Since our body is not trained to restrain washing faces or eyes after coming from the scorching heat outside, we end up in the basin splashing the water. Until you do not remind yourself multiple times that you have to avoid wetting your face, you will end up wetting the newly lifted lashes.
After spending time and money on a lash lift, it is obvious to expect it to stay longer. Generally, a lash lift should last for around six to eight weeks, but only if you take proper care of it. As the lash growth cycle stops, the treated lashes fall off, and the curls disappear. However, if you haven’t taken good care of the eyelashes, the result will end sooner.
Many people end up saying I got my lashes wet after a lash lift. If you don’t want to be this person, we have compiled all the important information that you should know about lash lifts, including aftercare and tips.
Lashes Wet After Lash Lift
When Can You Get Your Lashes Wet After A Lash Lift?
It is advised that you should wait for at least 24 hours after the treatment to wet your lashes. If you can wait for 48 hours, it will be better.
Certain chemicals are applied on lashes for lash lift. These chemicals help change the texture of lashes and give them the desired length and curl. First, the lashes are relaxed and straightened, then fixed into an upward curl.
Disulfide bonds form instantly, keeping the lashes in the shape you desire. This chemical bond strengthens when lashes are kept devoid of moisture for at least 24 to 48 hours. If the lashes accidentally wet before 24 hours, the bond will break, ruining the result altogether. The lashes will lose the curl to some extent, but not entirely. However, you should still try not to make them wet for the first 24 hours after the treatment.

How Will I Wash My Face After Lash Lift?
Since wetting the lashes is prohibited for 24 to 48 hours, you will not be able to wash your face in the usual way. Here are some tips on keeping your face clean and fresh-
- Before you come for the appointment, wash your face.
- Do not apply any makeup, especially eye makeup.
- Keep the area around the eyes clean.
- Remove the makeup with makeup, removing wipes or cotton pads damped in the cleanser. Later, rinse with cotton pads damped with water. Ensure avoiding the eyes area.
- Do not use oil-based cleansers or products that contain acids as they can relax the curls.
Once the period of 24 to 48 hours is complete, you can wash your face the usual way. Still, it is advised to avoid products that have acid and oils.
How To Shower With A Fresh Lash Lift?
Ideally, it is advised to wait for at least 24 hours to shower. Even though you will not wash your face and keep the lashes dry, the tiny droplets of water from the shower can travel through the air and make their way to your eyelashes, making them wet.
If you can resist, fine; but if the urge to shower is high, follow the below tips for the best result-
- Take a short shower. It means reducing the time you take to shower.
- Make sure there is no steam in the bathroom. For this, keep the water warm and not hot. Keep the shower cabin or door open to prevent moisture in the air.
- Do not use a shower jet. The force of water should be minimal.
- Keep the face, especially the eyes, away from shower spray.
- Showerheads mounted on the ceiling should be avoided.
Note: To keep your eyes protected from water, steam, and moisture, wear swimming goggles.
Getting a lash lift is exciting, but following aftercare is important to retain the result. Therefore, apart from taking a shower, you should avoid all the ways that can wet the eyes. For instance, you should avoid sweating, swimming, sauna bath, steam bath, exposure to heat, and putting or removing contact lenses.
Make sure you wait 24 to 48 hours after treatment to wet your eyes. Even though it may sound a bit annoying, these steps will ensure that the result of the treatment will last for six to eight weeks.
