Oiling the scalp is an important step to provide nutrition to the hair. There are oil glands in each hair follicle but various external factors like heat and dust cause the pores on the scalp to get clogged and make it dry. Oil massage helps in unclogging the pores.

How Often You Need to Oil Your scalp?

Types of hair and the frequency of oiling them. Let us see each case:

1. Normal Hair

Those with healthy hair can oil 1-2 times a week. But in case this hasn’t been done for a long time, continue oiling every day or on alternate days for a week and then do it once or twice from the next week.

The best time is the weekend as you can leave the oil for some(at least 30-60 min) time before bathing. It is also fine to oil your hair at night and wash it off the next morning.

2. Oily Hair

If you have an oily scalp, you can still do an oil massage for unclogging the pores on the scalp and relaxing it. Excessive oil secretion in oily hair leads to more hair fall.

So, unlike normal hair, this can be done just once a week or maybe even once in 15 days. Use an ayurvedic hair oil so it strengthens the hair roots.

3. Dry Hair

This needs oiling every alternate day or every day for some minutes. It should be left for at least a few minutes before washing off. This reduces itching, rashes, and flakiness of the scalp.

Hair oiling has to be done consistently with the frequency mentioned above. Jade comb has a cooling effect and is a great way of relaxing the scalp. It is always safe to use natural hair oils and shampoos that have fewer chemical ingredients to keep the hair healthy.
