Eyelash glue helps to stick the fake eyelashes to the eyelids. Since it is glue, people often wonder if it can work like normal glue. Have you also thought can you use eyelash glue for fake nails or while doing some other sticking things?
To know the answer, let’s dig a little deeper and know how effective it would be to use eyelash glue for fake nails.
Can You Use Eyelash Glue For Fake Nails?
The answer is probably yes, you can use your eyelash glue to stick the fake nails, but the result won’t be as effective.
Nail glues are made specifically to stick the fake nails, but if you use eyelash glue, it won’t hold the fake nail as long as nail glue does. Even though there are different types of eyelash glues on the market, we can’t tell exactly how well one will work. However, if you want to stick fake nails for a short period, eyelash glue will give the desired adhesion.
Difference Between Eyelash Glue And Fake Nail Glue
The only difference lies in the formulation of these glues. Since eyelash glue is applied directly to the skin, the adhesive chemicals are mild so that the sensitive skin around the eyes does not irritate. On the other hand, nail glue contains strong chemicals that provide enough adhesion power to bond the two hard surfaces- the natural nail and the fake nail.
How To Use Eyelash Glue For Fake Nails
Here is a step-by-step guide to help to know the way to use eyelash glue for fake nails-
Step 1- Clean Your Nails: Make sure the nails are clean and don’t have nail polish or any leftover nail polish.
Step 2- Soak Nails in Warm Water: Soaking nails in warm water will help to make the nail beds soft. Also, it will remove any dirt and grime. Let the nails remain soaked for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 3- Trim Your Nails: Take your nail cutter and trim the nails as short as possible so that they won’t show below the fake nails. It will also ensure that you can wear the fake nails for longer.
Step 4- File Your Nails: Smoothen out the edges of nails with a filer.
Step 5- Enlarge The Nail Surface: Push your cuticles back with a stick gently and enlarge the nail surface because the fake nails will stick only to the nails and not the skin. Do not remove the cuticles as they prevent the nail beds from getting infected. Just push them back and let them stay in their place.
Step 6- Fake Nails Application: Now take a dab of eyelash glue and apply it evenly to your nail. Similarly, apply some on the lower half of the fake nail. Place the fake nail on your nail and hold it tight for at least one minute. It will allow the glue to set and stick to the fake nail perfectly.
What Else Can I Use Instead Of Fake Nail Glue?
There are many alternatives to nail glues if you do not have eyelash glue. Check the three best alternatives and know which will work for you.
1. Double-Sided Tape
If you want to apply fake nails only for a few hours, you can use double-sided tape, which is easy to remove, affordable, and work with all nail plates. You can find such tape by the name of the nail tab. A few drawbacks of nail tabs are they are not long-lasting and may look bulky.
Advantages-
- Budget-friendly
- Easy to apply and remove
- Does not damage the nails
- Reusable
2. Acrylic Mixture
You can use an acrylic mixture to hold press on nails and fake nails that stick them together perfectly. It is one of the best nail glue alternatives. Although this mixture will stay on nails for longer and won’t come off easily, there are a few drawbacks.
Disadvantages-
- Can damage the nails
- Expensive
- Tricky to apply compared to nail glues
3. Gel Nail Polish
You can also use gel nail polish as a substitute as they are readily available, durable, and quite effective. However, gel nail polish will only work if you use light-colored Press-On nails. If the fake nails are too dark or opaque, it won’t work.
Now that you know you can use eyelash glue for fake nails and ways to apply it, go for it in the absence of nail glue. Always remember, the result won’t be lasting.
