Eating Rice After Wisdom Teeth Removal

If you wonder when you can start eating rice after wisdom teeth removal, the answer is it depends on what type of rice you are planning to have. For instance, dishes that have fried rice and crispy rice like biryani should be avoided for at least one week after teeth removal. In these dishes, rice is less cooked to give it a little crunchy and chewy texture. On the other hand, you can go for fluffy rice, mashed rice, or rice oatmeal’s that do not stick to the teeth.

1. Fluffy White Rice

You can make Fluffy White Rice as a one-pot recipe. Take a pot and boil water. Once the water starts bubbling, add rice and stir it for a while until the rice covers the bottom of the pot.

Now, wait for 2-3 minutes until the bubble restarts forming. Dim the flame and let the boiling dies down. Now cover the pot with a lid and let it cook for the next 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, put off the flame and check if the rice is properly cooked and is soft to eat. Put some salt and butter, and it is ready to serve.

2. Mashed Rice

For mashed rice, you need 2/3 cup of rice, 1/3 cup of moong dal, 3 cups water, one teaspoon oil, and a pinch of salt. Too much salt can harm the surgery site so add very little amount.

To prepare mashed rice, rinse rice and dal in water twice. Now put oil in a pressure cooker and add rinsed rice and dal and a pinch of salt. Sauté for a while and add 3 cups of water. If you want the rice to be extra soft, increase the quantity of water. Close the lid. Keep the flame moderate and let the cooker gives three whistles.

Turn off the flame and let the steam come out naturally. It will take around 5 minutes. Unlatch the lid and serve hot.

3. Rice Porridge

Healthy and easy to prepare, rice porridge is one of the best dishes to have after wisdom teeth removal surgery. Cook rice in enough water that it gets soft and fluffy. To make it healthier and tasteful, add some protein or seasoning like pepper or fish. Eat when it gets lukewarm.

Note: Even though these dishes make the rice soft and perfect for eating after wisdom teeth removal surgery, you should still eat it from the opposite side of the extraction site to stay safe.

How soon can I start eating normal food?

Food and drinks are not restricted after the wisdom teeth extraction surgery. However, you only need to take certain precautions like avoiding foods that are solid, chewy, and crunchy. Likewise, it is advised to avoid hot and spicy foods that can cause more harm than help.

In general, you may have to wait for at least two weeks to go to your normal meals.
